Medical Informatics
In 2002,
Judith completed Stanford University School of Medicine's Medical Informatics
Short Course, on campus, and joined the American Medical Informatics
Association. She attended the Telehealth 2002 teleconference
sponsored by the Association of Telehealth Service Providers (ATSP) and
several workshops and presentations at the American Health Informatics
Management Association (AHIMA) annual convention in San Francisco
in September 2002. She continually updates her knowledge and skills, so
in early 2003 she took the six-week Writing Newsletters for the Biotech
and Health Informatics Industries course at San Jose State
University.
As a contract
writer, editor and researcher for Rowberg & Associates medical
informatics consultants (Alan Rowberg, MD, principal) in Seattle, Judith
has researched and reviewed literature and written a report on the background,
progress over last five years, and current obstacles and opportunities
in telemedicine, particularly in collaboration and consultation via the
Internet. She also copyedited the research plan and abstract for a federal
telemedicine grant proposal by Siemens and Partners HealthCare System
(Massachusetts General Hospital); copyedited business proposals and program
plan for federal grant for another well-known corporation; and edited
medical journal articles by Dr. Rowberg about digital imaging communications
(DICOM) in radiology for the Journal of Digital Imaging.
She's also
writing and editing for a telemedicine consultant in Louisiana (company
not yet announced).
She covers
news highlights in medical, healthcare, and behavioral informatics in
her monthly newsletter, Health
News Monitor, and writes newsletters, Web copy, grant proposals
and reports, and feature articles plus edits all of those those
as well as marketing communications collateral and technical documentation
for companies involved in medical or healthcare informatics,
telemedicine and telehealth, e-health and related products or services.
She also has eight years of experience in editing technical documentation,
marketing copy and Web sites for technology companies, including Cisco
Systems, Juniper Networks, Netscape Communications and Vocera Communications
and other well-known corporations. (See Client
