Technical Editing

Judith has done technical editing since 1995, mostly for Internet hardware and software, but also for wireless and telecommunications products. She has worked primarily on system administrator documentation, technical marketing white papers and technical customer success stories or case studies.

She'd like to work on white papers or tech documentation for medical technology or devices, particularly remote-monitoring products and services, because of her interest in telemedicine. (So call her!) These excerpts from my resume give you brief overviews of what she did for Cisco, Juniper Networks, Netscape and Vocera Communications (samples available on request, when permitted):

Developmental technical editor, Vocera Communications, Cupertino, CA, September 2002. Edited the Vocera User Guide and system administrator's documentation for new wireless communications device (voice-activated badge) used by medical and support staff in hospitals and medical centers.

Technical marketing editor, Juniper Networks, Sunnyvale, CA, May 2001-December 2001. (Also see Marcom) Assigned to the Technical Marketing content development group, but also worked for Field, Product, and Corporate Marketing, and for Professional Services. Primarily copyedited white papers, technology and application notes, case studies, and PowerPoint presentations for business and technical audiences and Web sites.

Developmental editor, Netscape Communications (America Online), Client Marcom department, April-November 1998. (Also see Marcom) Substantive editing or rewriting of customer success stories about implementation of Netscape's Web-based applications and Internet or enterprise software by major companies.

Technical editor, Cisco Systems, San Jose, CA, September 1998-February 2001. (Also see Marcom) Copyediting and developmental editing of the complete range of technical documentation — from release notes to a 300-page book — for the Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Consumer Line of Business, and Optical Internetworking business units.
